"Rollers" by Lynda Cookson
For us here in the northern hemisphere our thoughts are starting to turn - quite early I might mention! - to the beach and waves and sunshine. With sand between our toes. We've had no winter to speak of at all here in Brittany.

Big White Flowers
"Big White Flowers" is so fresh and bold. It feels free and full of sunshiny happiness to me.
Just like today ... we have another really beautiful and warm sunny day with clear skies. What ever happened to winter on the coast of Brittany this year I just don't know. I'm sitting here with a cool top on and a thin cardigan, with only one pair of socks to keep my toes warm. Crazy to be so toasty, without a heater on, in what is usually deepest coldest winter.

"African Mood" by Lynda Cookson
After my 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge my studio space got a little messy, so a tidy-up was necessary. I found a few bits 'n bobs - as you do - and here's one of them.
It's probably my second or third watercolour painting from way back in 1998 or 1999 while I was still living not too far from Cape Town in a little village called Greyton.

"Red Sail" by Lynda Cookson
Last day of the 30 day challenge. Thank you so much everyone out there for putting up with me on a daily basis this past month ... your lovely comments and patience have been very appreciated. I know that if I hadn't put it out there for public viewing every day, I wouldn't have learned nearly as much as I did.
Halfway through I felt quite drained with it but got past that and may even do it again on an annual basis. Who knows :-)

"Pals for Tea" by Lynda Cookson
I often keep surfaces (paper, board or canvas) from failed paintings and clean my palette knife on them ... or fill them with palette knife strokes of left-over paint. They make interesting backgrounds and props for simple, warm-up paintings. Here's one of them:

Now and Zen in White
This one's for me and will probably find a permanent in our Milly the Motorhome :-) I started out aiming to paint the Buddha which sits at my desk (called "Now and Zen") and put in this white underpainting. And there I stopped! I love it ... it seems to represent to me everything that the Zen philosophy is - simple, pure, peaceful and with a depth you have to look for to find. It's mine, mine, mine. :-)

Dipped in Cream
A palette knife was used in this painting to mainly to move the white background to places I wanted it to be. The other colours were dropped in.
"Dipped in Cream" is now at The Gaslamp Gallery in Gorey, Co. Wexford, Ireland and will be featured in their Spring exhibition.

"Tropical Flowers" by Lynda Cookson
I've recently, because of down-sizing and moving into a much smaller home, destroyed a few of the larger paintings I had in stock. "Tropical Flowers" wasn't one of those! She's hung in my bedroom for a few years now and is going straight back into our new bedroom pretty tout suite!

"Breaking Through"
"Breaking Through" ... I love this abstract. I can feel the sun,
the warmth of that sun, a warm evening sky, the sea, and the white foam
of the waves.
A residency at the restored stone cottage famine village of Cill Rialaig, near Ballinskelligs in Co Kerry, Ireland, was the inspiration for this acrylic on board. The strong winter wind whipped the foam from the top of the waves and blew it against the cliffs. That, together with the sense of all the ancient (and not so ancient) lives lived there created a very spiritual atmosphere. Absolutely wonderful weather and wonderful inspiration!
