This is possibly my favourite horse so far. I love the sense of wildness, the colours and the feeling of power from the horse. In between the paintings which take days of painting - and looking - and adding more - and looking more to find its soul - ad infinitum until it yells 'don't touch me again!' ..... there are those paintings which just purr and create themselves effortlessly and gracefully. They are the ones which get me out of bed in the morning just to go and look at them again. I've just described 'Rebel' ... it's hanging in a gallery in Clifden (Co Galway, West Coast of Ireland) right now and I feel like fetching it home to enjoy until March when the art market in Ireland wakes up again. But at the same time I want it to become someone else's piece of excitement too ... after all, that's the final layer of satisfaction and achievement for an artist, isn't it?

Next week I'm lucky enough to be going on an artist's residency at Cill Rialaig, Ballinskelligs in Co Kerry. Perhaps more horses will join my stable while I'm there. Perhaps not. The scenery (and weather!) may be so compelling that something else completely different might happen. Oh how boring is the life of an artist!! :-)

It may be a month before I get to blog again - or it may be 10 days. I'll have to see if time is kind to me for the week I'm home before I go down to Co Cork for two weeks to interview at least 12 artists for the year's worth of artist profiles in 'Cork Now' magazine.

'Til then, have fun ....
